Birch Creek Shawl
Birch Creek Shawl
BIRCH CREEK SHAWL
This piece is very easy to make and wear; a goal of all September Knits patterns. The stitch pattern gives enough interest to keep going, but also repetitive enough to do while watching a show or listening to an audio book. This larger shawl version of the Birch Creek Bandana is worn folded in half (as a triangle) and easily wrapped around the shoulders. The two-color brioche and garter stitch makes for a squishy reversible fabric.
Birch Creek Shawl is knit from the bottom up beginning with an I-Cord Cast-On. There are two options given for this I-Cord Cast On. The sample used the ‘Provisional Cast On Using a Crochet Hook Method Set-up Option’. This shawl is worked back and forth utilizing soothing garter stitch and fun two color brioche. Slip all slipped stitches purl wise in this shawl. The shape of this shawl is a square. To wear this shawl, you will fold it in half on the diagonal to then wrap around your neck or shoulders. An I-Cord edging is worked throughout so all sides of this shawl have a neat I-Cord finish.
Birch Creek Shawl is created with 12 skeins of Recollect, 6 skeins of each color. You could also sub Juicy DK and would need 4 skeins each OR any Sport Weight Yarn. Find kits at The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers.
